Collin Pregliasco awarded 2021 Athletic Director of the Year

Cosumnes River College Athletic Director Collin Pregliasco was named the 2021-22 Athletic Director of the Year.

Pregliasco shared his thoughts and his reaction when he received the award.

“My reaction was that I was very humbled and appreciated knowing that our staff took the time to go through the nomination process and it means a lot to me,” Pregliasco said.

District updates mask policy on campus

Students and staff on Los Rios campuses can now choose to wear a mask or not, according to an email from the Los Rios Community College District.

There are a few exceptions where students and faculty are required to wear masks on campus, including when individuals are on campus for a COVID test, have recently been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID or have tested positive for COVID within 10 days of being on campus.

Cafeteria provides new food options on campus

The campus has introduced new food options for students returning to in-person learning.

These options include grab-and-go vending machines and multiple food trucks.

The vending machine system and the food trucks were added when the campus moved most classes online, Administrative Services Director Chrisopter Raines said.

The Spring 2022 scholarship season requirements

Cosumnes River College is accepting scholarship applications for graduating students from Jan. 14 through March 4.

Scholarship Supervisor Elizabeth Starbuck said there weren’t that many requirements students needed.

“You need to have completed six units at CRC, and currently be enrolled in six units,” Starbuck said.

Men’s basketball team earns 11th win of season against Santa Rosa with tense finish

The Cosumnes River College men’s basketball team beat Santa Rosa Junior College 69-66 on Friday during their 19th game of the season.

The Hawks are looking forward to starting this month with back-to-back wins after finishing the month of January with a 1-3 record. With this win, the team has a record of 11-8.

Christian rock band Skillet released their 11th studio album called “Dominion.”

The band consists of guitarist and vocalist John Cooper, guitarist and pianist Korey Cooper, drummer and vocalist Jen Ledger and guitarist Seth Morrison. Skillet has been my favorite band since my teenage years.

What to do if you think you have COVID-19

There are many people who have recovered or died from COVID-19 just in the past two years.

Cosumnes River College Nurse Michelle Barkley offered advice about what to do if you’re exposed to the virus or become infected.

“If you tested positive and you have the infection, then you isolate,” Barkley said. “If you’ve been exposed to someone who has tested positive, then you quarantine.”

Native American Heritage Week presents Wilton Rancheria’s Administration Executive Director

Cosumnes River College hosted its second day of their Native American Heritage Week Community Celebration with an appearance from Wilton Rancheria’s Administration Executive Director Dahlton Brown on Nov. 18.

The Cosumnes River College ”In the Studio” series hosted an event on Friday with Broadway Sacramento Artistic Director Scott Klier as the guest host.

Klier joined the series to share his insight in leading California’s largest non-profit arts organization, according to the CRC website.
